MAPLEWOOD VILLAGE ALLIANCE SURVEY

Maplewood, NJ – The Maplewood Village Alliance (MVA) is launching a community-wide survey to gather valuable feedback from residents both in and out of Maplewood, business owners, and commercial property owners. The survey seeks input on the MVA's role in the town, satisfaction with its work, and areas for improvement, growth, and development. This initiative is a vital step in shaping the MVA’s strategic plan and enhancing community engagement.

The MVA serves as the District Management Corporation of the Maplewood Village Special Improvement District. It is a self-governed entity funded primarily by a special tax assessment on commercial properties located within the district. The MVA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation governed by a board of trustees, which includes merchants, property owners, and residents. These trustees are dedicated to preserving, promoting, and enhancing Maplewood Village. The organization’s mission is to create a welcoming, engaging experience for visitors, to support a favorable environment for businesses to thrive, and to preserve the unique character and history of the Village.

The MVA manages large-scale economic development initiatives and environmentally sustainable improvements. It undertakes beautification projects, produces and promotes events and programs within the Village, and provides a range of supplemental services. These services include sidewalk cleaning, maintaining an online business directory, and overseeing façade renovation projects for local businesses. The organization’s primary objective is to foster a thriving environment for both businesses and the community, ensuring that Maplewood Village remains a vibrant destination while honoring its historic identity.

Through this survey, the MVA is collecting community feedback to help evaluate its programs and services, assess stakeholder engagement, and inform future initiatives that maximize community impact. The survey is available online here.
