Prospect Street Bike Lanes & Complete Streets Community Meeting (No. 3)
Maplewood Township invites the community to attend a third virtual community meeting to review and discuss the revised concept plan for bicycle lanes, traffic-calming treatments, and pedestrian facility improvements along the entire length of Prospect Street, from Concord Avenue at the border with Union Township to Beach Street at the border with South Orange Village.
This revised concept plan incorporates feedback received from the public, including from the public meetings held on April 28th and May 4th. This follow-up meeting will be an opportunity to present the overall revised concept plan, detail the changes that were made, and receive additional comments from the public.
The virtual meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The installation of bike lanes fits the Complete Streets approach to street design, which strives to accommodate all transportation modes including walking, cycling and driving. Maplewood follows this complete street approach with the goal of improving safety and accessibility for all road users.
During the past few years, Maplewood has focused on creating a town-wide system of bike lanes to enable adults and children to travel to our parks, schools, shopping districts and train station in a safe manner. We’ve identified Prospect Street as an opportunity to create a safe biking travel option connecting the north and south sides of town.
