Maplewood's Police Department is seeking applicants to fill part-time positions as School Crossing Guards. The minimum requirements for this role are:
- U.S. Citizen
- Age 18 or older
- Valid New Jersey Driver License
- Able to pass a criminal background investigation and physical
- Exhibit reasonable, consistent, predictable attendance and punctuality
- Capable of standing, walking, and holding a stop sign for up to 90 minutes on a regular basis
- Must be able to remain alert for up to 90 minutes at a time
All School Crossing Guards will be trained to perform the following duties:
- Cross Children Safely
- Evaluate traffic patterns
- Report Hazardous conditions
School Crossing Guards are required to perform their duties outside, in inclement weather. Crossing guards work a minimum of three hours per school day; hours very. Pay for this position is $17.20/hour, no benefits included.
