Renting a Field or Park

Interested in Renting a Park or Field in Maplewood for an Event with Fewer Than 50 People?
Please follow the steps below:

1. Complete the Park and Field Request Form

  •  The form is fillable when opened on a desktop or laptop.

2. Submit the Form

  • Email the completed form to the general Recreation email at recinfo@maplewoodnj.gov
  • Submission must be made at least two weeks prior to your requested rental date. 

3. Include the Following in Your Email

  • At least one alternate date and time in case your first choice is unavailable
  • If selecting more than one field or park, indicate:
    • Primary and secondary preferences
    • Whether you’re requesting multiple fields or listing alternates

4. Rental Fees

  • $20/hour for Maplewood residents
  • $25/hour for non-residents
  • Note: This is a bring-in, bring-out policy — all items brought in (e.g., garbage, supplies) must be removed by the permit holder.

5. Additional Requirements

  • Events with 29 or more attendees require a Certificate of Liability Insurance:
    • Must list: The Township of Maplewood, 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, NJ 07040 as additional insured
    • Policy must be for $1,000,000
    • Fire permits are required for any open flame used for cooking.
    • Bounce houses are not permitted.

6. Invoicing & Payment

  • Invoices are issued through the Township’s RecDeskLog in
  • If you do not already have an account, please create one here: Sign up

 7. To Receive Your Permit

  • Full payment must be received
  • Submit:
    • Certificate of Insurance (if required)
    • Signed copy of Maplewood Park General Rules: General Rules for Maplewood Parks
    • Rain date check deposit, if applicable (must match rental fee for your primary date)

 Planning an Event for 50 People or More?

 1. Follow the Standard Park/Field Rental Process

  • Complete the Park and Field Request Form
  • Submit it to Melissa Mancuso, Community Services Director, at MMancuso@maplewoodnj.gov at least two weeks in advance
  • Include alternate dates, field preferences, and any special considerations (as detailed in the regular rental instructions)

2. Submit the Special Event Application

  • Once space availability is confirmed, you must complete the Special Event Application
  • This application must be submitted to the Township Clerk at least 30 days before your event
  • The fee for this application is $25.00

3. Application Review & Approval

  • The Special Event Application will be reviewed and approved by all relevant Township departments
  • Approval will include verification of:
    • Certificate of Liability Insurance, naming The Township of Maplewood as the certificate holder
    • Applicable rental fees
    • Any additional requirements, depending on the nature of your event
