The Maplewood Health Department works closely with epidemiologists, disease investigators, nurses and health educators from the NJ Department of Health, Communicable Disease Service to investigate and monitor all cases of reportable communicable and infectious diseases in the township, especially during an outbreak. We rely on timely reporting by laboratories and health care providers of any suspected or confirmed incidences.
We also work closely with school nurses and childcare/daycare providers to help prevent communicable and infectious diseases among young children, especially vaccine preventable diseases. For more details see the NJ DOH Communicable Disease Services "General Guidelines for the Control of Outbreaks in School and Child Care Settings".
